Why

Sanghaya Channel exists because we believe communities thrive when dignity is matched with hands-on support. Rooted in the Tagalog ideal of sanghaya—honor, dignity, and integrity—and guided by the values of agency, equity, and mutuality, we minimize barriers by connecting resources and people. We want to see a community where paperwork, systems, and language aren't hurdles, but pathways to agency, autonomy, and connection.

Life isn’t one-dimensional—and neither are we. As a cross-disciplinary hub, we’re here for real challenges that don’t fit neatly into boxes. Who

Anni was born to a Waray mother from the Eastern Visayas of the Philippines and Anglo-American father from Montana. She grew up in a multilingual environment witnessing the impacts of eurocentric and English-only hegemony on multilingual communities, as well as collective resistance to assimilation. It was clear to her that language, power, and identity were interrelated. This understanding led her on the path to a Master's in TESOL and Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics, equipping her to challenge English-only and language dominance practices—poignantly relevant to the current discourse on the intersection of racism, belonging, and linguistic oppression. 

Her 20 years of experience in language education joins 8 years of community organizing focused on women's liberation, reproductive justice, economic justice, anti-racism, language justice, and equitable access to education—all of which face increasing state surveillance and oppression. As a recently commissioned notary public, she provides in-person and online services and is committed to supporting communities experiencing institutional barriers and in need of document solutions.
